Examples of breakthrough moments

Imagine looking at an ice cube during winter. Since it’s cold, it stays frozen. If you turn up the temperature to one degree, you would see that the ice cube stays solid. However, if you continuously but slowly increase the temperature, you’ll notice that there’s one particular point where you’ll see the ice cube starting to melt.

As you can see, a one-degree shift, which is just the same as the temperature increases that you made before, has unlocked a change in the ice cube.

That’s the breakthrough moment.

We see breakthrough moments all around us. For example, you normally can’t detect cancer cells until they reach 80% of their lifespan. 

Bamboo can be barely seen on the ground for about five years. However, after it has built an extensive root system, it can grow as much as 90 feet into the air within just a month and a half!

Another example is tectonic plates. These plates can grind against each other for many years and even centuries. However, once they reach the breakthrough moments, they produce earthquakes as strong as a hundred atomic bombs.

Harness the power of breakthrough moments

You must understand that breakthrough moments don’t happen at the beginning of your journey. In fact, you will often face a valley of disappointment first before you experience your breakthrough.

If ever you find yourself struggling to see positive changes, it’s not because you lost the ability to improve. It’s just that you haven’t crossed the line between the valley of disappointment and your breakthrough moments.

When people see successful people, they only see the breakthrough moments, but not the struggles that preceded them. When you finally put the last hours to be successful, you know it’s not the last hours that led you to that moment, but it was the accumulated hours that you spent before.

So, if you are discouraged because you’re not seeing progress, remember that your breakthrough moments are just waiting around the corner.
